What this website audit checks

Every audit inspects the areas that actually move rankings and user experience:

  • Crawl & indexing: HTTP status, robots.txt, canonical tags, meta robots, hreflang, and sitemap declaration.
  • On-page SEO: title tag, meta description, H1–H6 heading structure, internal and external links, and image alt text.
  • Performance & Core Web Vitals: real-user LCP, INP, and CLS from Google, plus FCP, TTFB, and page weight.
  • Security: HTTPS, live SSL certificate expiry, mixed content, and security headers (HSTS, CSP, X-Frame-Options and more).
  • Structured data: JSON-LD detection, schema types, and syntax validation for rich-result eligibility.
  • Head, social & branding: favicon, apple-touch icon, Open Graph and Twitter cards, and Organization signals.
  • Accessibility, images, fonts, CSS, JavaScript, mobile-friendliness, and server/tech-stack detection.

Why website audits matter for SEO

Search engines reward sites that are fast, secure, crawlable, and genuinely useful. A single technical problem — a blocked page, a missing canonical, a slow Largest Contentful Paint, or an expired certificate — can quietly hold back rankings across your whole site. Running a regular audit surfaces those issues before they cost you traffic, and gives you a prioritized, plain-English list of what to fix first. Because this tool pulls real Core Web Vitals field data and checks live SSL and security headers, the results reflect what Google and your real visitors actually experience.

What is AI visibility, and why it is the new SEO

Search is shifting from ten blue links to AI answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google’s AI overviews. Being recommended by those assistants is the next frontier of organic growth — and it depends on signals classic SEO tools ignore. This audit includes a dedicated AI Visibility score that checks whether you publish an llms.txt file, whether your robots.txt allows AI crawlers like GPTBot and ClaudeBot, whether your content is server-rendered (AI crawlers rarely run JavaScript), and whether you use entity, Organization, FAQ, and Article structured data that AI systems rely on to understand and cite your pages. Improving that score makes your site easier for AI to read, trust, and recommend.

How to use the tool

Type any URL and press Start Audit. Watch the live checks run, then review your executive summary — a quick verdict of what is working well and what needs attention. Expand any section for details and how-to-fix guidance, filter by severity, compare two URLs side-by-side, or export the report to CSV and PDF. Re-run the audit after each change to track your progress.

Frequently asked questions

Is the SEOlust website audit free?
Yes. You can audit any public URL for free, with no sign-up, no credit card, and no limits on the number of sites you check.
Where do the performance and Core Web Vitals scores come from?
They come from Google PageSpeed Insights, which reports real-user (field) data where available — the same source behind Google’s page-experience signal — plus lab metrics as a fallback.
What is the AI Visibility score?
It measures how ready your page is to be understood and cited by AI assistants: llms.txt, AI-crawler access, server-rendered content, and entity/FAQ/Article structured data. A higher score means AI systems can read and recommend your site more easily.
Does the audit change or store my website?
No. It only fetches your public page and its robots.txt/llms.txt at request time to analyze them. It never modifies your site, and results are not stored on our servers.
Can I audit a competitor’s website?
Yes. Enter any public URL. You can also use the compare feature to benchmark two sites side-by-side with visual diff indicators.
How often should I run an audit?
Run one after any significant change to your site, and at least monthly. Core Web Vitals field data updates on a rolling 28-day basis, so allow a few weeks for improvements to fully reflect.
