Somewhere on your site is a page you forgot exists. It's published, it's live, maybe it even ranked once — but no link on your entire site points to it anymore. Visitors can't stumble onto it. Crawlers struggle to find it. It's floating in isolation, cut off from everything else you've built. That's an orphan page, and if your site is more than a year old, you almost certainly have a few.
They sound harmless — just a page that's a little lonely. But orphan pages quietly drain your site's ranking power, confuse search engines about your structure, and on larger sites, waste the limited attention crawlers give you. What makes a page an orphan
An orphan page is simply a page that no other page on your site links to internally. It might be sitting in your sitemap, it might even be indexed by Google, but there's no path to reach it by clicking through your own navigation, menus, or content.

When a page has no links pointing to it, it receives none of that equity — it's starved of the very signal that helps pages rank.
