Lets start with the basics “meta tags” most of you already know how they work but it’s a good subject to begin with.
<title>Seolust - Learn seo</title>
The title represents your website. Im using this website as example.
<meta name=“keywords” content=“learn seo, seo help, seo blog, seo tips, seo tricks, seo tutorials“>
The keywords I picked are the ones I want to rank good with. Learn seo is going to be the main one.
<meta name=“Description” content=“Lust for seo“>
Lust for seo is my discription but it would be wise to use a longer one. Example: Seolust is a seo blog to learn seo with several seo tips and tricks. With this discription your using the keywords so there is a bigger chance of getting ranked better. You have to repeat the keywords on the website.
<meta name=“Robots” content=“index,follow”>
This tag let’s the crawler know what to do. Index and follow which means to index and follow all the links and content on your site. Except for the links that are no follow which is a non proven method but I believe it works.
Now you know how to work with meta tags but before you can use them do alot of resource on which keywords,title and Description is right for your site.

02|Apr|2008 1But most of the time in tutorials i saw that google does not pay any attention to meta tags but yahoo stills loves it, Then what should be the choice?

02|Apr|2008 2Google still reads the meta tags but more as information about the page I doubt it has alot of influence on your keyword rankings but it can never be wrong using them.
There are seo masters that leave the meta tags empty so there able to rank on the most random keywords to gain alot of traffic.
My advice is to keep them on and still focus on the right meta tags for your ninche.
