I posted a topic on a forum offering onSITE seo service and the same day I got a pm from someone with a scuba diving website that needed seo tips. I did it quikly and for free and I am sharing the tips I gave the guy.

I noticed the title is the same on most of your pages. Here is one of them:

Your title is: DiD - Scuba Diving Resource & Diving Community

When having a page like wreck-diveguide use a matching title like:

“Scuba diving Wreck Diveguide”

Do this for all your pages. Title them differently related to the content.

This is one of the things google wants to see on your website.

Metatags:

Your using the following keywords:

scuba diving, equipment, gear, careers, jobs, travel destinations, forum, vacation, underwater photography, open water,
wreck, cave, technical, spearfishing, free diving

Ok scuba diving is a good keyword, really fits your site.

Change “equipment” to “scuba diving equipment”
Change “gear” to “scuba diving gear”

You will not rank for the keywords gear, careers, jobs, forum, vacation, wreck, cave, technical, spearfishing without
a lot of backlinks. Thays why you need to change them to the things I did above.

Here are some examples:

Diving careers ( easyer to rank so easyer traffic )
Diving jobs
Scuba diving forum
Cheap diving vacation
Scuba diving vacation
And so on..

Images

Your using a lot of images on your website. Title all of them with your keywords. Everything should be content related.

example:

http://divingindepth.com/images/Wreck1.jpg

It does not has a title.. you could call this image “diving wreck” this wil increase the seo on your website. And the image
might even rank in google images for diving wreck. You have to do this with all images. Use the keywords you set in your
meta tags.

You should also title your logo with the main keyword.

Nofollow
Are you familiar with the nofollow tag?

(nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index.)

You use it like this:
rel=”nofollow” on your links.

So if you have outgoing links on your website use this tag on them. Our use it on pages you don’t want google to index. I use this tag
for most of my partner links. The bot basicly crawls your site but you can increase the crawl rate by using the tag.

Like on pages like this:

http://www.divingindepth.com/TermsofUsePrivacy.htm

There is no need for google to index this. It only slows the crawling process.

Can be titles differently so let’s say

This way you have the keywords in there. And you can also title these links keyword related.

Backlinks

Your website has a lot of good content should be able to rank great. A little tip is to pay for a directorie submission service. It only
costs about 12$ for 1200 backlinks and you can provide 5 keywords. Give the guy 5 different keywords like these:

Diving careers
Diving jobs
Scuba diving forum
Cheap diving vacation
Scuba diving vacation

And that will rank you pretty high. I did the same with seolust.com still ranking for seo tricks for months.

Anyway I hope this will help you out to understand the seo a little more.

So here is another update. My question is do you really understand seo? that’s the most important thing there is.

Do you know how to:

• How to design the core structure of your website and its user navigation to enhance your site’s themes and raise your site in the SERPs?
• How to tie specific page themes with semantically related pages within your site into a group that allows you to rank higher for broader and more competitive keywords.
• How to outrank 99% of the competing websites in your market.
• how to exactly and properly communicate your intent to the search engines and enjoy higher rankings and traffic as a result of a win-win-win cooperation.

And there is so much more. The biggest part with seo is that you need to understand it. You need to know why you are building backlinks and what kind of backlinks. Before you start a site you need to think of a design structure your going to use.

Let me explain a little bit. At first you need to optimize your website for search engines. You do this by having a good structure on your website. Don’t just place links on your site because you seen it somewhere. The more links to a page on your website the more important it will be for the search engines.

• The keywords you are using in your meta tags, discription should also be used on your website in the content.
• Your domain should be related to the keywords ( not needed but it’s a plus)
• When you have several pages on your site make sure you title them with your keywords. Like you see on this site seo-tips-tricks.
• You can make up any page and link it from your main site. Like I did here unlock-wii-homebrew.com Look at the links under start playing. I just added a bunch of links with related keywords in them. This increases your indexed pages.
• Not to forget backlinks there are thousands of free ways to get them. You need to know what they do and how there have the most effect.

Anyway there are thousands of things like this. You should know them. Once you do it will be very easy to get your site on page 1. Seo also requires you to be creative think of new ways that have not been used before and you wil most likely rank higher then the competition.

I have not seen a site yet that listed almost all of the things you simply need to know to get those top rankings. I did found a website called wildseo that has all the information you need. I normally don’t buy things online most of it is just crap anyway but this was even usefull for me. Ranking isn’t as hard as you think.

What alot of people forget that seo is not just building links, site optimizing and all the other shit people are talking about. An very important factor is traffic. And i’m not talking about google traffic but traffic from different sources. Your site needs an certain ammount of visitors outside google traffic to get more traffic from google.

This might only counts for the sites that are already well listed and are already getting a decent ammount of google traffic but are stuck with the same ammount of visitors.

Focus on traffic outside google and your site will get more traffic from google!!

This is what we all want getting indexed faster in the major search engines like google. There are a two ways of speeding up the process of getting indexed.

Sitemap’s is one of these ways. A sitemap is basicly what it says a map of your site. You can put all your pages in the sitemap and submit it to google.

The more pages you get in google the more traffic you can get. For bigger sites I would recommend to invest some money in a better sitemap maker so your able to list all your pages and update them yourself.

The next way on getting indexed faster is even easyer. Find a site that get’s indexed well on google and do a link exhange with that site our buy a link. Now everytime the google bots crawls that site it wil visit your link and crawls it to.

Google engine optimization the new Seo

Yahoo isn’t a competition for Google anymore don’t believe me? Check your tracker and you will find out that yahoo is not even sending half the traffic google is sending.

And what else is left there? msn? Google is on top of there competition

We should give seo a different name. The new name should be Geo “Google engine optimization”

Just kidding there, We should still focus on all the search engines instead of one. But google is  on top of the hill atm I wonder if this is ever going to change. Maybe a new search engine? who knows

Making websites can be your hobby but what If you are able to make tons of money with your hobby. Let me explain why your website can make money and how.

Just explaining a fast way of using clickbank.

What else? what else makes money? There are so many ways to make money with your site. You must use your fantasy to come up with fresh ideas. Im going to explain one more.

Here is another idea. Make a website with alot of clickbank product links. Make the site look interesting you need to pull them into the product links. Now you can invest some money in buying traffic for that website let’s say you pay 15$ for 30,000 uniqes and from those uniqes you make 2 sales worth 25$ that makes a profit of 35$ and now you can invest more with that money. This way your able to build up some money and invest some more. It is not as easy as it sounds thought. Not all the traffic people are selling is good. Read about the people that sell traffic check there iTraders and see if they have good revieuws before you invest your money.

Selling links

This is a nice and easy way to make money. Webmasters want backlinks to rank better and thats why they would buy a site link on your site. When you just started a website it wil be very hard finding webmasters to buy links on your site because your site has no PR ( Pagerank) and is not well indexed in google yet. So before you start selling links wait a while until your website is ready for it. The higher your PR and rankings the more they pay for a link on your site. Becarefull with this tho, google doesnt like sold links and it can cost your good rankings.

If you have more then one site you can use a higher PR site to link your new site. But the problem here is that most of the sites of the same owner are placed on the same server. Google wil not see them as strong backlinks so a smart thing to do is placing them on different IP’s. You can do this by adding another range to your server our simply placing the site elsewhere this might costs extra but in the long run it wil help your serps
